The FFA Chapter is off to a busy start. With the first returning advisor in three years, Advisor Brent Beley has focused the past year on rebuilding the program. With this year’s fresh start things are looking promising with a total of 31 active members, and the 2025-2026 officer team: Annie Keyes- President, Violet Browning-Vice President, Kennah Bennett-Secretary, Wyatt Keyes-Treasurer, Georgia Burns-Reporter, Jonathan Stender-Sentinel, Riley Dennistin-Historian.
So far this year the chapter has competed at 2 competitions: Ruby Valley Invitational (RVI), and Northern International Livestock Expo (NILE) . The chapter took 2 teams to RVI for Livestock and 1 team for Forestry. With Browning (Senior) and Keyes (Senior) leading the livestock team to success, the team placed 7th overall and 2nd in the district. Freshman Justin Stong placed 9th in the district and 44th overall which is impressive for his first ever competition.
The Forestry team, which consists of Siara Bailey, Kennah Bennett, Joseph Williams, Angela Armstrong, and Georgia Burns had a rough day but they can only go up from there.
At the NILE the chapter competed in Sales, Livestock, and vet science. The sales team was 13th overall with Burns, and Browning leading the team with high individual scores. The Livestock SR team didn’t have a full team of 4, therefore the team score was impacted leading to them placing 45th overall. Keyes placed 31st out of the 300 and for the rest of her team (Ben Strong and Braxton Wright) followed in the top 100. The JR livestock team placed 35th with Justin Stong placing 64th with Taylor Boeh close by at 69th. The Vet Science team placed 29th with Siara Bailey placing 97th individually.
Looking into the future the Chapter left Oct. 25 for Indianapolis for National FFA Convention and will be back November 1st. Bailey is “pretty excited about nationals”. In Indianapolis the chapter will participate in many different workshops to expand there leadership skills. After Nationals they will compete in over 15 different competitions at John Deer Ag Days at MSU.
