After nearly a decade of monsters, mysteries, and friendships that felt personal, “Stranger Things” is finally coming to an end. The show’s upcoming final season marks more than just a day on calendars, it feels like the end of an era for those of us who’ve been watching since that very first summer in 2016 when we were introduced to a group of middle school kids in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.
In the first season, they were just nerdy 12-year-olds playing Dungeons & Dragons. Now, near the final season, both the characters and the viewers have grown up. Over the years, as Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Max faced down supernatural chaos, we faced our own real-world versions such as school, friendships, heartbreak, and change.
“Stranger Things” season 5 will be released in three parts on Netflix. Volume 1 arrives on November 26, 2025, Volume 2 on December 25, 2025, and the series finale will air on December 31, 2025. Although my biggest concern is whether the Duffer Brothers can wrap it all up in a satisfying way, and if every beloved character will make it out alive. I wish for a hopeful ending, though tragedy is expected.
No matter how the show ends, “Stranger Things” has already left its mark. It proved that a show could be deeply heartfelt and emotional. The relationships, the heartbreak, and the feeling of growing up alongside the characters are what truly made it special and all the more emotional. The sadness and emotional aspect of “Stranger Things” ending comes from the shared experience of watching it unfold, season by season, and mystery by mystery. Putting the pieces together and wondering what will happen next is what made the show so exciting and suspenseful to watch. I personally will never forget the excitement I felt for each new season that would be released, and now with this being the last season, I will hang on to that feeling.
I am not prepared for what this new season has to offer, but I am glad I was able to experience growing up alongside the characters in the show, and the nostalgia that comes along with it. While this ‘Never Ending Story’ is now ending, the impact of “Stranger Things” and the memories made watching it will never fade into the Upside Down.
