The Park High School girls varsity soccer team has had an unforgettable 2025 season with a 9–1–1 record, showing that they are one of the best teams in Class A. The team won the conference this year for the first time ever. But the big question is: how did they have such a successful season? Captain Chase Vermillion, a senior at Park High School, says “We are all just best friends, that is why we work so well together.”
The season’s biggest moment was on September 20th, when Park played the defending state champs, Billings Central. After a close match, the Rangers came away with a 2–1 win, this was the first loss Billings Central had since 2023. Player, Ella Mendez said “It’s crazy how we were the first team in the conference to beat them. It is nice to see all of our hard work finally paying off.”
Even though the win-loss ratio tells a lot, what set the team’s tone was its chemistry. From the early pre-season practices to all of the late night bus rides, the girls became good friends, which started to show on the field. Coaches and parents can see the team’s chemistry, parent Ashley Miller even said “I’ve never seen the girls play so well together, it’s like they can read each other’s minds.”
That friendship showed all around the field, including a strong defense with Rhea Adams, a creative midfield with Ella Mendez, and an aggressive frontline that fights for every goal with Phoebe Alverson, Chase Vermillion, and Alexis Melin. Whether they are shutting down the other team or building up through passing, the Rangers played with trust in each other.
Park’s only loss came early in the season,1-0 against Laurel. A small setback that started a winning streak. They recorded multiple shutouts and a few impressive wins, including an 8–0 win against Lockwood and a 4–0 win against Lone Peak. Their final standings placed them at first among the top three teams in the East conference in Montana Class A. The team is going to play offs against Loyola on October 18th, which they beat in a non-conference game 6-2 in August.
As the team celebrates a season of nothing but the best, there’s also a lot of excitement for the future. With a mix of new leadership and lots of promising underclassmen, the Rangers are excited for what ahead. This team has proved that when practice meets friendship, anything is possible. A coach, Kirk Chapman even said “We may not have what these other teams have, but we have heart.”
