FFA

Agriculture is more than cows, sows and plows. Another outstanding club is our highschool FFA chapter. Park FFA took a record number of students to the District Leadership Seminar. The next week at the Ruby Valley Invitational, the range team took 1st place, and the Livestock judging team had multiple top 10 finishers. As well as taking the win at RVI, the Sales team took 1st place at the Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE). In this competition you are given a sales scenario and work on selling a product to a judge. The Junior livestock team had multiple high placing individuals. This is where members judge 8 different classes of livestock and give reasons on their placings.

FFA members can meet new people at competitions and conventions, and engage in other activities like super fun dances, group workshops, and more. In the upcoming November month the big convention Montana Ag Days (JDAE) is held at MSU. There are so many events that members can choose from, and it is held as a practice and learning event before the state convention. The range team is traveling to Fairfield Utah to compete in a national range competition. There is also a chapter meeting on Tuesday November 1st. “We will be having a thanksgiving themed dinner with games! Please come join us and learn about some of the upcoming events,” explained President Ava Malone.

Some of the challenges FFA are facing are recruitment and increasing travel costs. They are working hard at fundraising as well. Bagging groceries, doing work for people, and selling fruit are some of them. options. The FFA chapter will begin selling fruit boxes this month. Be sure to contact them if you are interested! We will be selling mixed fruit boxes, made in montana boxes, and more!

There are great opportunities in FFA to learn about public speaking, leadership, agriculture, being future leaders, meeting lifelong friends, and lifelong relationships. You never know where FFA may take you. If you are interested in joining this club, please contact Mrs. Corrigan, come to a meeting, or chat with any of the FFA officers!
