Park High looks strong this year. They had a really good turnout at tryouts and even had to make some cuts because there were too many players. They have a young team with only two seniors, Augie Stern and Austin Brocket, who came down from Big Timber to play for Park. They are both team captains this year and valuable players to the team. Stern is always boosting the morale of the team and is just a fun person to be around and Austin is their main pitcher and he is always encouraging people to do better.
Head Coach Ryan Anderson and assistant coach Bruce Lay are returning for the second year of the baseball program at Park High, and they are joined by two assistant coaches: Tom Kersbergen and Eric Kozera. This year they are striving to make it to state this year. Last year they lost to Butte High and it was a tough game. But their morale is high and expectations are set on state. “The team is improving every day at practice because of Ryan. He is helping us one on one, telling them and teaching us what we are doing wrong,” says Stern.
So far the Park High Rangers have a score of 4-6 they have beat Butte Central and Townsend.
The entire varsity team this year is all a big threat but the people that stand out are Freshman Carter Anderson who played with the Rangers as a 8th grader on varsity last year. Ben Cipriani, Weston Vincent and Hansford Tewell are all returning varsity starters from last year. But the Junior-Varsity is also really young and has the potential of being a really good team in the upcoming years if they keep working hard.
Some tough teams this year are going to be Dillion, Butte High and Belgrade. The Rangers have struggled with these teams in the past. So the Rangers will need to be ready for those upcoming games.Ryan is great at having discipline and keeping the team in shape. He knows what he is doing so the team is always getting better because of him.
