Homecoming will take place the week of October 7-11, with high anticipation from the student council. Senior Alice Addicott, treasurer of the student council, said she “plans on increasing student engagement and possibly having rewards for the student body,” this Homecoming season.
Park will be seeing a lot of the same events as last year such as “Paint the Town Purple,” dress up days, iron man, powder puff, the parade, and a dance. The order of events is undecided but iron man is expected to take place October 9 and powderpuff is scheduled for October 10.
“Paint the Town Purple” will run similarly to last year. Students will be welcome to grab streamers, paint, and various decor after Gold Ranger Friday to decorate the main streets of Livingston. Last Homecoming, windows of local businesses were painted in purple and gold, and street light posts were rolled in streamers. Admin and student council will partner to make the event run smoothly and any student that participates will be given 10 service hours.
Due to the ‘Gold Ranger Friday’ that takes place during Homecoming week, the parade may be moved to Thursday in order to keep things running smoothly and have all events fit into the schedule.
Stacy Sundling, vice president of the student council and senior at Park High, is encouraging students to “BUY IN and if more people participate Homecoming will be more fun,” he said.
A sneak peak of the themes for dress up days are duo day, and class color day, chosen by the student council members and representatives of each class in the last two meetings.
Sundling is excited and the anticipation is building because the student council has “had a head start to planning compared to last year, ” he said.” Student Council members are conveying that the key to a successful Homecoming week is participation from the student body and Ranger Pride.
Student council meetings take place every Tuesday after school in the B-Pod, and everyone is welcome to attend. Sundling proudly announces, “GO PARK!”
