On April 12, The Park High band and choir traveled to Bozeman to attend districts. Districts is an event held every year for schools around the state to attend and show off their musical skills. At this event students are graded and receive a score of 1-5. The best score you can receive is a 1. The Park High band received a 2 and the Park High Choir received a 2 as well.
Gloria Lynch, a junior at Park High school, has been in choir for two years, having taken zero-hour choir as a freshman and now is improving everyday in chamber choir.
“We did pretty well, we did better than last year. We could have also done better with some notes, but in all, I felt like we did pretty well,” Kent said.
On May 3, Ava Petry, Fiona Shinn, Matthew Melin, Curtis Denniston, Ellie Ames and Matine Howell will be attending state in Billings. In order to qualify for state, members of the choir must perform a solo and receive a rating of 1.
Members of the Park High band also attended districts at Gallatin High in Bozeman. As a whole, the band performed one big piece, and several band members performed small ensemble performances and others did solos.
On May 4, Liam Gravley, Augie Stern, Brinley Halland and Finn Schretenthler are attending state in Billings as well. “I thought that all the people that performed did very well, and I am very proud of all of their accomplishments,” junior Curran Devine says.
