Developing young men and future leaders is a motive that Park High’s baseball coach Ryan Anderson strives for. Park High made the decision to add baseball to the sports program. This is the first time in Park history that baseball is an option for students to play. Park hired Anderson to coach the baseball team. Anderson has coached baseball for years and has played baseball his whole life.
There are many students interested, and the team has already started practicing. Senior Bridger Braham, a catcher, has big plans for the year. “As a team we have a good group of guys and making it to state championships is the plan,” Braham explained. The baseball team will have a JV and varsity team.
“Our biggest challenge will be pitching. We need to make sure we have enough arms to stay competitive. The weather also can play a significant role in the game,” Anderson stated. Brendan Boily and Bruce Lay are assisting Anderson in the coaching of the sport.
Anderson says he is familiar with the skills of other teams around the state. “I know about the skills of a lot of the teams. All are very well coached. I think Belgrade will be our biggest challenge, but overall, I think our team will be extremely competitive,” Anderson said.
The student athletes are excited about the hiring of Anderson. Senior Wister Tewell said, “Ryan has coached some of the traveling teams around here, and has always carried a very competitive school.”
The team will travel to Sidney, Montana on March 29, where the boys will test their skills in their first high school game.
