How do students at Park High celebrate the holiday season?

Christmas break for Park High students is approaching, and it is time to get into the holiday spirit. With so many ways to celebrate, students at Park High explain some of their favorite holiday traditions and activities.
Meryl Sexton, a Park High senior, explains, “I usually stay in Livingston for Christmas, and then for New Year’s my family goes to Wisdom.” On Christmas, Sexton opens presents with her family, and then her family does something outdoors for the rest of the day. One of her favorite traditions is going skiing with her family each year on New Year’s Day.
Kenna Benzel, a junior at Park High, says her normal holiday preparations include “getting a Christmas tree and shopping for presents.” Her family celebrates the holidays with a big family dinner at her house. Benzel’s favorite holiday tradition is when she and her sister open the presents they got for each other on Christmas Eve. Then, they open the rest of their gifts on Christmas Day.
Another junior, Cameron Sestrich, says he normally celebrates Christmas with his family by “eating good food and listening to Christmas music.” Sertich’s favorite holiday tradition is decorating the Christmas tree.
During the holidays, senior Zoey Payne gets together with her grandparents, her immediate family, her uncle and aunt, and her cousins. “We play games, open presents, and just spend time with family,” Payne explains. Her family has soup on Christmas eve after the church service, and then they have prime rib on Christmas day, which is her favorite tradition.
Overall, students at Park High have a wide variety of traditions and ways to celebrate the Christmas season. Whether it’s exchanging gifts, going skiing, decorating, or sharing a meal, all these seem to relate to connecting and spending time with others, which is what the holiday season is all about.
