The final week, or “Hell week,” for rehearsals of “The SpongeBob Musical” is here. Directed by Russel Lewis, who is getting all 40 of the cast members working hard, the Shane Center staff is anxiously waiting to finish setting up for opening weekend October 20. The people at the Shane Center are preparing for tight crowds and to have a lot of fun.
One of the cast members, and the Executive director at the Shane Center, Erika Adams, says she is excited to perform “The SpongeBob Musical” with everyone involved with the musical. She described it as “a message from an unlikely hero that everyone needs to hear.”
Another cast member for the show, who would like to stay anonymous, also helps with the technical side of the show, said it takes a lot of research and even watching some YouTube videos to figure out the new lights and sounds. He also said that “SpongeBob truly shows us the good and bad aspects of how we handle a crisis as a community.”
They both said each show is like a different family. Erika loves to see new faces coming into the Shane Center, not only to watch the shows but to also come to future tryouts. She says that it’s good for people to be part of something bigger. If you would like to come watch “The SpongeBob Musical” get your tickets at the Shane Center website, and as Erika said, “You don’t want to miss it.”
